{"id":1395,"date":"2015-11-12T04:31:33","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T04:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/?p=1395"},"modified":"2026-01-30T23:53:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T23:53:05","slug":"recent-woodshop-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/?p=1395","title":{"rendered":"Recent Woodshop Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lot has been happening with the FCW woodshop lately, primarily in the manual equipment area.\u00a0 In late Summer, a Slide Miter Saw was donated.<a href=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Slide-mitersaw-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1392\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Slide-mitersaw-small.jpg\" alt=\"Slide-mitersaw-small\" width=\"200\" height=\"196\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 A short time later, several members donated money to purchase a wood lathe.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Harbor-freight-wood-lathe-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1391\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Harbor-freight-wood-lathe-small.jpg\" alt=\"Harbor-freight-wood-lathe-small\" width=\"209\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a>This lathe, along with lathes loaned by Rick, Dave, and Colin, will be used for woodturning classes, and, of course, it will be available for general use by members and guests.\u00a0 Then, in late September, the opportunity arose to purchase an industrial 20&#8243; bandsaw.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/20in-bandsaw-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1390 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/20in-bandsaw-small.jpg\" alt=\"20in-bandsaw-small\" width=\"151\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a>Again, the members came through with funds and, after much grunting and wheezing, the bandsaw arrived.\u00a0 It needs cleaning, painting and wiring but was tested before purchase and works well.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in October, a Woodmaster 18&#8243; planer\/molder and 18&#8243; drum sander were donated and picked up.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Woodmaster-Planer-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1393 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Woodmaster-Planer-small.jpg\" alt=\"Woodmaster-Planer-small\" width=\"182\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a> Like the bandsaw, they need wiring.\u00a0 The woodshop crew: Rick, Ross, Kay, Dave, and Gary <a href=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Woodmaster-sander-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1394\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woodshop\/Woodmaster-sander-small.jpg\" alt=\"Woodmaster-sander-small\" width=\"185\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a>will be laying out the shop over the next few weeks so that wiring should begin around Christmas.\u00a0 Many thanks to all those who donated time, money, equipment and muscle to obtain and move these machines.\u00a0 They should greatly enhance the capabilities of the woodshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot has been happening with the FCW woodshop lately, primarily in the manual equipment area.\u00a0 In late Summer, a Slide Miter Saw was donated.\u00a0 A short time later, several members donated money to purchase a wood lathe.\u00a0 This lathe, along with lathes loaned by Rick, Dave, and Colin, will be used for woodturning classes, &hellip;
