{"id":812,"date":"2014-08-15T17:27:50","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T17:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/?p=812"},"modified":"2026-01-30T23:53:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T23:53:06","slug":"soldering-for-cccti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/?p=812","title":{"rendered":"Soldering for CCC&#038;TI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier in the year, FCW was approached by Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCC&amp;TI) about creating a training workshop for students in their College and Career Readiness (CCR) program.\u00a0 They had read about the eggbot workshop that FCW created for Granite Falls Middle School and were initially interested in using the eggbots for their needs as well.\u00a0 After some discussion, it was decided (primarily due to expense) that a better workshop for their needs would be an Introduction to Soldering.\u00a0 The tentative dates were set for sometime late July or early August.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"metaslider-id-819\" style=\"max-width: 700px;\" class=\"ml-slider-3-105-0 metaslider metaslider-flex metaslider-819 ml-slider ms-theme-default nav-hidden\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"CCCTI-201408\" data-height=\"400\" data-width=\"700\">\n    <div id=\"metaslider_container_819\">\n        <div id=\"metaslider_819\">\n            <ul class='slides'>\n                <li style=\"display: block; width: 100%;\" class=\"slide-815 ms-image \" aria-roledescription=\"slide\" data-date=\"2014-08-15 17:15:07\" data-filename=\"CCCTI-soldering-final-product-e1408123324271-700x400.jpg\" data-slide-type=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fcwhack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/CCCTI-soldering-final-product-e1408123324271-700x400.jpg\" height=\"400\" width=\"700\" alt=\"\" class=\"slider-819 slide-815 msDefaultImage\" \/><div class=\"caption-wrap\"><div class=\"caption\">The project<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n            <\/ul>\n        <\/div>\n        \n    <\/div>\n<\/div> Soldering irons and simple toolkits were procured from Sparkfun.com and a simple LED blinker was chosen for the project.\u00a0 On August 4th, 5th, and 6th, a total of 42 students attended the soldering training at FCW.\u00a0 Rich spent about 40 minutes going over the fundamentals of soldering, the specifics of the board, and component identification.\u00a0 For the remainder of the two-hour slots, Rich, Michelle, Gene, Colin, and Adam assisted the students in assembling their kits.\u00a0 Most of the attempts were successful and the students were able to keep their creation.<\/p>\n<p>FCW was happy to work with CCC&amp;TI on this project and is currently designing additional workshops that they may use.\u00a0 We hope to work with the other local community colleges and public schools to promote interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier in the year, FCW was approached by Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCC&amp;TI) about creating a training workshop for students in their College and Career Readiness (CCR) program.\u00a0 They had read about the eggbot workshop that FCW created for Granite Falls Middle School and were initially interested in using the eggbots for their &hellip;
