Minutes of the FCW Business Meeting on March 31, 2018

Financial Report:

  • $789 unencumbered balance

  • Cash flow still a concern.

Old Business:

  • Facility

    • Electrical

      • Ron Gray delayed in transformer installation.

      • Wiring started/continuing in main areas.

    • Railroad – construction continuing

    • Woodshop

      • Large tablesaw is being set up.

      • A wood lathe was purchased.

    • Metal Shop

      • Needs sprinklers, ceiling, and waterproofing.

      • Longer term project.

    • Science Center

      • Electron Microscope is inside – needs setting up

      • Needing cabinetry, sink, and tables

    • Computer Museum

      • Taking donations.

      • Ben and Derek have set up shelving.

      • Lead on Apple Iie

    • K4FCW

      • Outside wall is penetrated for antenna cables.

      • Have an HF and VHF radio.

      • Will update equipment at CV-Hamfest

    • Arts & Crafts

      • “Baby” Mill is in place – needs setting up

      • Electrical is installed for Vacuum Former and Sewing Machine

      • Exhaust system for laser cutters has been installed.

    • Kitchen – ongoing

    • Computer/Gaming

      • Being used for robotics club and general computing

      • May get Arcade games.

      • Planning a Retro-Gaming night.

    • Electronics

      • Shipment from Dallas added equipment and parts.

      • Soldering stations have arrived and are set up.

      • Raspberry Pi’s on order.

    • Classroom – needs cleaning and setup.

  • Events:

    • April 21 – Catawba Valley Hamfest – Morganton

    • April 21 – STEM Trek at the Catawba Valley Science Center

    • April 28 – Burlington Makerfaire.

    • April 28 – Gravity Games – Lenoir

    • May 4 & 5 – FCW Grand re-Opening and Open House.

New Business:

  • PR:

    • Need to grow the membership.

    • Mitch is getting an Iwanna account.

    • More updates on facebook. Analytics being used to track usage.

    • Need to publicize Grand re-Opening.

  • Events:

    • June 8-10 – Southeast Linuxfest – Charlotte

    • June 23-24 – Ham Radio Field Day at FCW

    • July 13-14 – Blackberry Festival, Lenoir, Michelle and Colin will fund a table

Concerns:

  • Need to keep the lounge area clear of “stored items”.

  • Make every effort to clean up, especially in non-construction areas.
