Area: Common-K4FCW

FD-2012-croppedThe Amateur Radio Station – K4FCW is part of the Common Area.  FCW currently has seven licensed hams as members and several guests.  The station is available to any licensed ham within their privileges.

 

Major equipment in the station includes:

  • Icom 735 HF tranciever
  • Icom 706MKiiG HF/6m/2m/70cm tranciever
  • Kenwood 2m tranceiver
  • Cushcraft AR270 VHF/UHF antenna
  • Cushcraft R5 HF antenna
  • Butternut H9V HF/6m antenna
  •  Longwire with a tuner
  • 80m Dipole
  •  Various small radios, power supplies, meters

K4FCW operates HF, VHF, and UHF; CW, SSB, Digital (mainly PSK31).  Other modes will be added as time and funds permit.

We try to work Field Day, NC QSO Party, November Sweepstakes, and 13 Colonies Contest.  Other contests and events will be added as time permits.

Besides Ham Radio events and contests, FCW:

  • Teaches Amateur Radio license classes
  • Hosts VE exams 3 times per year (March, November, August)
  • Builds accessories and antennas

Note that K4FCW is not associated with the ARRL , ARES.  We encourage anyone wishing an Amateur Radio Club to check out the Lenoir Amateur Radio Club or the Western Piedmont Amateur Radio Club.
